Lancaster Stormers News Release

John Anderson spun five strong innings, and K.C. Hobson belted a pair of two-run homers as the Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Long Island Ducks, 5-0, in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader at Clipper Magazine Stadium Thursday evening.

A second game is scheduled to start at 7:35.

Anderson (1-2), making his fourth official start, yielded only two hits while walking one and striking out seven. Jordany Valdespin singled to open the night, but Anderson got a quick double play out of Emilio Bonifacio to stem the threat.

Tyler Ard led off the top of the fourth with a double but never moved.

Meanwhile, Lancaster struck in the bottom of the third inning as Jake Fisher (4-5) walked both Tyler Bortnick and Blake Gailen with two outs. Ryan Casteel cashed in on the opportunity with an RBI single to right center.

Hobson took care of the rest. The Lancaster first baseman followed an infield single by Trayvon Robinson with a line drive homer in the fourth. Robinson opened the sixth with a double into the left field corner off the Long Island lefty. Hobson followed by clearing the Haller tent in right to complete the scoring.

Right-handers Joe Gardner (3-6) and Tyler Badamo (1-2, 3-6) square off in the second game which will be carried on BRC-11 and the Barnstormers YouTube Channel.

NOTES: Hobson's second homer was his 50th as a Barnstormer...Blake Gailen walked all three plate appearances and has 50 on the year...Scott Shuman allowed a pair of singles in the sixth, the first time he has allowed two hits in the same inning since May 10...He also struck out three and has 37 K's in his last 19 1/3 innings.
