
Barnstormers Come out on Top over Bucks, 49-42

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Barnstormers came out on top in a back-and-forth battle against the Bismarck Bucks, 49-42, in the IFL Game of the Week presented by Stadium on Saturday night inside the Wells Fargo Arena. The Barnstormers improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Bucks drop to 3-2.
Iowa Barnstormers differed to start the game. Both teams got out to a slow start in the first quarter.ÃÂ Daquan NealÃÂ scored the first touchdown of the game with a quarterback keeper which put the Barnstormers up 6-3 with 2:28 left in the first quarter.
Both offenses lit up in the second quarter. The Bismarck Bucks scored their first touchdown of the game within :06 seconds of the second quarter, causing the Barnstormers to trail 6-10. The Barnstormers responded with a 23-yard field goal, made by KickerÃÂ Nathan Criswell. The Barnstormers scoring streak continued with a 47-yard pass from QBÃÂ Daquan NealÃÂ to WR Kentrez Bell which resulted in a touchdown putting the Barnstormers within one of tying the game, 16-17 with 2:40 left in the second quarter. After a failed field goal attempt by the Bucks, it gave the opportunity for the Barnstormers to score. A 22-yard run by RBÃÂ Elad CovaliuÃÂ resulted in a touchdown tying the game 23-23 at halftime.
Scoring from the Barnstormers did not slow down in the third quarter. Covaliu went to work and garnered his second touchdown of the game putting the Barnstormers up 30-23. The Bucks answered with a touchdown of their own. The Bucks attempted a two-point conversion but was broken up by Barnstormers DB Tyrone Cromwell. To close out the third quarter,ÃÂ Daquan NealÃÂ foundÃÂ Connor HollenbeckÃÂ in the end-zone to put the Barnstormers up 36-35.
The fourth quarter continued to be a close scoring game with the Barnstormers being up by one majority of the time. But, the Barnstormers had the last word. DLÃÂ Kenton BartlettÃÂ forced a fumble by the Bucks and DB John McClure recovered the ball, putting the Barnstormers offense back in position to score. Neal completed a touchdown pass to WR Carrington Thompson at the back of the end zone to put the Barnstormers up 49-42 with 1:51 in the fourth quarter. The Barnstormers' efforts were enough to beat the Bucks, with a final score of 49-42.
The Barnstormers are on the road next week to face the Tucson Sugar Skulls (0-1), Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Tucson Convention Center. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. CST. Fans will have the opportunity to stream the game live on Youtube. The Bucks will look to bounce back in the next IFL Game of the Week presented by Stadium against the Sioux Falls Storm on Saturday, June 5, at 7:05 p.m. CT.
