York Revolution News Release

The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the York Revolution 6-2 in front of 5,714 fans on Sunday evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium, gaining ground on the Revs who still lead the Freedom Division's second half race by half a game. The Barnstormers used the long ball to help gain the victory as they knocked four solo home runs, including back-to-back-to-back shots in the first inning. The season's "War of the Roses" series is now tied, 5-5.

The Revolution opened the game taking an early 1-0 lead by playing small ball. After RF Chris Walker singled and 2B Ramon Castro walked to get on base, DH Jose Herrera slapped a single to left-center to bring in Walker with the game's first run.

Lancaster answered right back in the bottom half of the first inning to take the lead with 1B Tommy Everidge, DH Matt Watson, and RF Aaron Herr hitting back-to-back-to-back solo shots giving them a 3-1 lead.

The Barnstormers increased their lead the following inning with 3B Ozzie Chavez smacking a single to bring another run across the plate for Lancaster, making it a 4-1 game.

Lancaster brought in another run when CF Wayne Lydon scored on a double play ball to take a 5-1 lead in the fourth inning.

Everidge crushed his second solo home run of the game in the fifth inning giving the Barnstormers a 6-1 advantage over York.

The Revolution finally put another run on the board in the final inning when 3B Vince Harrison belted a solo shot of his own cutting their deficit to 6-2.

Lancaster starter J.D. Durbin earned the win (5-1) pitching seven innings and only allowing one run while striking out eight in his night of work.

Revs starter Jesus Sanchez (0-1) suffered the loss, charged with six runs (five earned) in 5.2 innings.

In the second game of the series York will send lefty Zac Cline (0-1, 9.64) to the mound against Lancaster's John Halama (2-3, 6.48) Monday night at 7:00 p.m. in Lancaster. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, Shoutcast.com (WPDC), and YorkRevsTV.com beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.

Notes: It was the second time in Revs history that an opponent hit three consecutive homeruns (also 6/5/10 at Southern Maryland). It was the second time in Barnstormers history, and second time this season that Lancaster batters connected on three homers in-a-row. The four homers allowed matches a season-high for York, and also ties a season-high for homers in a game by the Barnstormers offense. The Revs have remained in first place for every day of the season's second half, a streak they will try to maintain on Monday night.
