Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers are proud to announce that team Athletic Trainer Sarah Banwarth has been named the AFL's Trainer of the year for 2011. Banwarth is currently employed by Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers, providers of sports medicine and physical therapy with numerous locations throughout Central Iowa. The 2011 season was Sarah's first with the Barnstormers and only her third year of certification.

The Barnstormers were one of the AFL's most battered and bruised teams during the 2011 season, having over 20 players listed on the weekly injury report at some point. Banwarth was responsible for keeping stars Brad Banks, Jesse Schmidt and Brent Curvey among others, in game-playing form. When asked about her honor Banwarth stated "I'm thrilled to be named the AFL Trainer of the Year for 2011. I couldn't have done it without our wonderful team doctors at Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and my colleagues at Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers".

The Barnstormers would like to thank all of their fans for a great 2011 season. Planning is already underway for the Barnstormers 2012 season. Season ticket packages are already on sale, with no price increases from the 2011 season! The 2012 schedule will be released later this fall.
