Barnstormers Announce 2016 Schedule

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers and the Indoor Football League (IFL) are pleased to announce their 2016 season schedule. For the first time since 2010, the Barnstormers will open on their home turf at Wells Fargo Arena. The team's season will start off against the Green Bay Blizzard on Friday, February 26, 2016 and include a total of eight home games.
The 2016 season brings many exciting opportunities for the Iowa Barnstormers. The Barnstormers home schedule once again kicks off with a matchup versus long-time rival, the Green Bay Blizzard. The home schedule also features the Minnesota Axemen (April 9), Wichita Falls Nighthawks (April 16), Minnesota Havok (May 7), Sioux Falls Storm (Fri. May 27), and Colorado Crush (June 4). The Barnstormers will wrap up the regular season with another home matchup against Green Bay (June 18) and then host the Cedar Rapids Titans (June 25) for an Iowa Bowl battle.
A featured road game for the Barnstormers will occur when the team travels to take on the Spokane Shock. The Barnstormers and Shock have a long-time rivalry, competing together in both the af2 and Arena Football League (AFL). This offseason, Spokane made the transition from the AFL to compete as a franchise of the IFL.
With the additions of the Spokane Shock and Minnesota Havok, the Indoor Football League has reformatted their conference alignments and reestablished divisional alignments. The Iowa Barnstormers will now compete in the Midwest Division of the United Conference. Iowa will have home and away matchups versus division rivals Sioux Falls Storm and Minnesota Havok. The IFL has also increased to an 18-week schedule where each team will play eight home and eight away games with two bye weeks.
Once again this season, all Iowa Barnstormers home games will be played at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. Kickoff for each of the eight home games is set for 7:05 p.m. (CDT). The complete 2016 Iowa Barnstormers regular season schedule may be downloaded HERE.
