Iowa Barnstormers News Release
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed veteran defensive back EJ Johnson to the 2023 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.
Johnson (5-10, 200, Rockford University) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his fourth season in the Indoor Football League (IFL) and first season with the team. Prior to signing with the Iowa Barnstormers, Johnson spent three seasons with the San Diego Strikeforce. During the 2022 season, Johnson appeared in 13 games with the Strikeforce collecting 33 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
"EJ was a standout and stalwart of the San Diego teams the last few years," said Head Coach Mogensen. "EJ is known as a total professional and will be a great addition to our squad. His ability to play any position in the defensive backfield as well as spot play at linebacker will be very beneficial to us this season."
Johnson will enter the Iowa Barnstormers 2023 Training Camp in the Spring.
