Barnstormers Add to Defense

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed defensive back Geovonte Howard to the 2024 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.
Howard (6', 205, Charlotte) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his first season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Howard began his career at Kilgore Community College where he spent two years and collected 54 tackles and five interceptions before moving on to Purdue University for the 2020 season, appearing in five games with the Boilermakers during the shortened season. Howard rounded out his collegiate career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte spending two seasons with the 49ers and collecting 93 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one interception.
"Geo is an incredibly talented player who fits the mold of the type of long and physical DB we are looking to utilize in 2024," said Coach Mogensen. "We expect him to bring the type of presence we were missing in 2023."
Howard joins a physical defensive back corps on the Iowa Barnstormers roster.
"I signed with the Barnstormers because I feel like it's a great opportunity to go out and show and prove who I am," said Howard. "but I am mostly excited about getting back out there on the field to learn, grow, and help my team win."
Howard will join the Iowa Barnstormers 2024 Training Camp in the spring.
