Barnstormers Add Running Back

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed running back Taeyler Porter to the 2024 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Porter (5'10, 195, Arkansas Pine-Bluff) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his first season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Porter began his career at ASA Miami Junior College before transferring to the University of Arkansas at Pine-Bluff. Porter spent two seasons at Arkansas Pine-Bluff appearing in 20 games with the Golden Lions where he rushed for 2,237 yards and 21 touchdowns on 418 carries. A standout athlete, Porter became only the third player in school history to post back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons. Porter also accumulated numerous honors including First Team Preseason All-SWAC, Preseason BOXTOROW All-American, Black College Football HOF Watch List, two time First Team All-SWAC and BOXTOROW All-American.

Following his collegiate career, Porter earned a spot in the XFL with the Vegas Vipers.

"Taeyler is a tremendous player, who was in XFL training camp and if not for a hamstring injury would have made that team," said Head Coach Mogensen. "We are excited to get him here to Iowa so he can prove he is healthy and ready to go. It will just be a matter of time before he gets another opportunity to advance to a higher league. He is as explosive of an athlete as there is and should be a huge weapon for us in 2024"

Porter will enter the Barnstormers 2024 Training Camp in the spring.

"I am excited for another opportunity to showcase my talents," said Porter. "After my injury with the Vegas Vipers I am just looking for a shot to prove I can play at a higher level."
