SUGAR LAND, Texas. - The Sugar Land Skeeters won their third-straight game on Monday evening, this time in walk-off fashion as Jeremy Barfield belted a leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Skeeters a 3-2 win over the Bridgeport Bluefish. The win improves Sugar Land's record to 21-23 while the Bluefish fall to 18-24.
Bridgeport struck first in the top of the second. Frazier Hall pulled a ball down the right field line for a double to open the inning before Jobduan Morales singled on a slow roller to second base. Pressed for time, second baseman Delwyn Young attempted to flip the ball to first in his glove, but an errant toss allowed the run to come in to score. Sugar Land starter, Matt Wright worked around trouble for the remainder of the inning, getting a flyout and a pair of groundouts to end the threat.

Denny Almonte advanced the runners on a slow-rolling ball to shortstop before Patrick Palmeiro was hit-by Bluefish's starter, Cory Riordan's offering to load the bases. Amadeo Zazueta legged out a fielder's choice on a ball hit to short, allowing Scott to cross the plate and tie the game.
Ramon Delgado, James Parr and Andrew Johnston kept the Bluefish scoreless over the next three innings, allowing the comeback. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Willy Taveras blasted a home run to left-centerfield, giving the Skeeters a 2-1 advantage. Of the outfielders eight RBI this season, five have given Sugar Land the lead in the sixth inning or later.
John Lujan blew his second save of the season after allowing a runner to reach following a strikeout and a wild pitch. A balk call allowed Jake Luce to advance from first to second before Sean Burroughs hit a single up the middle, bringing Luce in to tie the game at one.
After relinquishing the lead, Jeremy Barfield wasted no time in ending the game. With a 1-1 count, the right-fielder blasted a home run into left to give the Skeeters a walk-off win, 3-2.
