Bluefish Announce All-Star Event Schedule

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 8, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the schedule of events for the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball's 2015 All-Star Break presented by Kia Motors and the Connecticut Kia Dealers, which will be hosted at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard from July 7th through 9th. The All-Star Game, set to be played on Wednesday, July 8th, is just one of many events to be held during these few days.

"We are beyond excited to host this amazing lineup of events," says Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole. "Our staff has been working non-stop to ensure that the All-Star Break will be a huge success and that we will bring pride to the city of Bridgeport and the Bluefish organization."

The celebration kicks off on Tuesday, July 7th, when the Bluefish will shut down Fairfield Avenue in Downtown Bridgeport from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to host the All-Star Block Party. There will be live music and plenty of food, as well as appearances by the All-Star players and the Atlantic League team mascots. Admission to the Block Party is free, with a suggested donation of $10 to support the Bridgeport Caribe Youth Baseball League. CLICK HERE for more information.

After the Block Party ends, there will be a private All-Star VIP Reception at the Bijou Theater where the All-Stars will be introduced. Food will be provided by 'A Vucchella Catering. Local singer-songwriter Javier Colon, who was the winner of the first season of NBC's reality show The Voice, will also perform. Tickets for the VIP Reception cost $125.

Wednesday, July 8th is the big day. First, the Bluefish will host the All-Star Luncheon at Housatonic Community College from noon to 1:30 p.m., which will feature a special guest keynote speaker. The Luncheon will feature a 'Tastes of the Atlantic League' menu, with each team being represented by a regional dish. Tickets for the All-Star Luncheon cost $45.

The gates at The Ballpark at Harbor Hard will open at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be a Street Fair outside the Ballpark leading up to the All-Star Game beginning when the gates open until 7:00 p.m., with local vendors serving food and drink samples. The Home Run Derby will begin at 5:00 p.m., where the All-Stars will battle to see who can hit the most balls out of the Ballpark and onto the train tracks. Each Atlantic League contestant will be paired with a local Little League team to help raise money for their organization.

The main event will be played in traditional All-Star Game format, with players from Bridgeport's own Liberty Division facing off against those from the Freedom Division. Bluefish Manager Ricky VanAsselberg will manage the Liberty Division team, while Lancaster Barnstormers Manager Butch Hobson will manage the Freedom Division. Javier Colon will once again make an appearance, singing the National Anthem before the first pitch is thrown. There will be a spectacular 3D fireworks show after the game. Tickets for the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game cost $14 for Box Seats and $11 for Reserved Seats. There are also Luxury Suites available, which can be reserved by calling the Bluefish Ticket Office at 203-210-BLUE.

Once the All-Star Game is over, the Bluefish will host an exclusive Boathouse Bash after-party at the Knowlton Boathouse in Bridgeport, just minutes away from the Ballpark. Tickets for the Boathouse Bash cost $50.

The festivities will conclude on Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 p.m. with the 'Heroes for Heroes' Legends Game, where former Red Sox will take on Former Yankees in a seven-inning charity contest. Proceeds from the Legends Game will benefit ABRI/Homes for the Brave, a nonprofit based right here in Bridgeport that is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless individuals, especially Veterans. General Admission tickets for the 'Heroes for Heroes' Legends Game cost $15 in advance or $20 at the gate on the day of the game.

VIP Packages are available for the All-Star Week, and include access to the VIP Reception at the Bijou Theater, the All-Star Luncheon, the Boathouse Bash, and a Box Seat Ticket to the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game. VIP Packages cost $200.
