Montgomery Biscuits News Release
The Montgomery Biscuits announced today that third baseman Wes Bankston has returned from the disabled list and will be active for today's series opener against the Carolina Mudcats.
Bankston, 22, had been on the disabled list since April 25 with a strained right obliques muscle. Ten days ago, he was sent to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' extended spring training complex in St. Petersburg, Fla., to rehab his injury in spring games.
Bankston injured the muscle while swinging at a pitch in the April 24 game at Mississippi. The prospect had been hitting .333 with one home run and nine RBIs in 18 games. The Devil Rays have been experimenting with Bankston at third base, and the Plano, Texas native had committed 11 errors in 15 games there before his injury. Bankston, originally an outfielder, had been moved to first base four years ago by the Rays and to the hot corner during spring training this year.
