Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Peoria, Illinois - Despite a perfect outing from left-hander Noah Cameron, the Quad Cities River Bandits fell to the Peoria Chiefs on Wednesday by a final score of 2-1 at Dozer Park.
After being reinstated from the injured list on Sunday, Cameron got the start for the Bandits, his first since June, and struck out five, while not allowing a base runner in his 3.0-inning performance.
With the left-hander on a pitch limit, Rito Lugo took the ball for Quad Cities in the fourth and stranded a pair of runners, before the Bandits broke into the run column against Peoria starter Zane Mills with an RBI double from Dillan Shrum.
Peoria responded in the bottom half however, tying the game on Francisco Hernandez's sacrifice-fly.
After Zane Mills completed his 6.0-inning night by stranding a Bandits' runner in the top of the sixth, the Chiefs took their first lead of the series, plating a 2-1 advantage on an L.J. Jones sac-fly.
While Anthony Simonelli held Peoria off the board for the final two innings, Quad Cities mustered just one hit against Nick Trogrlic-Iverson, who struck out four en route to a save with 3.0 shutout frames out of the bullpen.
At 1 hour and 57 minutes, Mills (3-6) earned the win for the Chiefs in what was the Bandits' shortest game of the season, while Lugo (0-3) took the loss, allowing both Peoria runs in 3.0 innings of relief.
Quad Cities will look for its second win of the series on Thursday, with William Fleming (1-3, 4.93) getting the start against Peoria's Austin Love (6-11, 6.28). First pitch at Dozer Park is set for 6:35pm CT.
