Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

The LumberKings rallied to walk off in victory Friday night to snap the River Bandits' six-game winning streak.

The River Bandits picked up right where they left off Thursday night on Friday by plating nine runs in the first three innings to claim an early 9-1 advantage but it didn't last. The LumberKings rallied against the Bandits bullpen to tie it in the bottom of the eighth following a five-run seventh.

Kalian Sams provided the fireworks offensively for the LumberKings with three home runs including a solo shot to win it in the bottom of the 11th as the LumberKings came from behind to top the Bandits 11-10 at Alliant Energy Field.

Luis Mateo led the charge for the Bandits offensively with a 2-for-5 night and five RBI. Four of those came on his grand slam in the third inning part of a five-run frame for Quad Cities. Niko Vasquez added a pair of hits and drove home two in the game.

The Bandits pitching hit their first real speedbump of the season allowing 11 runs on 17 hits. Shelby Miller made his second start of the season and didn't get out of the fourth inning after allowing three runs, all earned, on six hits in three-plus innings. He struck out seven and walked only one but didn't record a decision. Four relievers combined to allow eight runs over six innings. Aaron Terry (0-1) suffered the loss allowing the walk-off home run before recording an out in the 11th. Brandon Josselyn (1-0) pitched the final two scoreless innings for Clinton to record the win.

The River Bandits open a brief three-game homestand at Modern Woodmen Park on Saturday night against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Drink specials will apply all night on Saturday with $2 sodas and draft beers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 at Modern Woodmen Park.
