Bandits Advance to Southwest Division Semifinals

Southwest Division Semifinals start tonight at Louisiana

Jackson, Miss. - The Jackson Bandits moved on in the East Coast Hockey League Kelly Cup Playoffs late Tuesday, defeating the New Orleans Brass 3-1 in the Southwest Division Wild Card Game at Mississippi Coliseum. Chris Longo and Richard Pitirri each had a goal and assist for the Bandits. Longo 's goal was a shorthanded tally with 8:08 to play in the third period to break a 1-1 tie. Mike Tamburro stopped 40 of 41 shots for the win in goal while Sean Gillam scored the other Bandits goal.

The Bandits now advance to the Southwest Division Semifinals where they will face the Louisiana IceGators, Southwest Division and Brabham Cup champions during the regular season. The schedule for the best-of-five series is as follows:

Game 1 -- Wednesday, April 3 at Louisiana -- 7:05 p.m.
Game 2 -- Friday, April 5 at Louisiana -- 7:35 p.m.
Game 3 -- Sunday, April 7 at Mississippi Coliseum -- 2 p.m.
Game 4 (if necessary) -- Monday, April 8 at Louisiana -- 7:05 p.m.
Game 5 (if necessary) -- Wednesday, April 10 at Louisiana -- 7:05 p.m.

This is the first time the Bandits have won a series in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. They were 3-4-3 against Louisiana during the regular season.
