Buffalo Bandits News Release
Buffalo Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott announced today that they have acquired Duane Jacobs from the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for Buffalo's second round draft selection next year's NLL Entry Draft. Jacobs was labeled Rochester's "Franchise Player" but has agreed to have the tag removed to come to the Buffalo Bandits.
Jacobs is an 11-year veteran of the NLL. The Burlington, Ontario native spent his first two seasons in Detroit before going to Rochester. In 107 career games, Jacobs has netted 192 goals and 199 assists for 391 points ranking him seventh in the NLL all-time. Last season he netted 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points in 15 games.
Jacobs, a 6'2", 205 pound forward, had a very successful career in Rochester. He is currently Rochester all-time leader in goals (169), assists (185) and points (354). He is also the all-time leader in playoff points with 40 and is the only player to have played in all 12 Knighthawks playoff games. In 1998 Jacobs was named to the NLL Second Team All-Pro.
"Duane is a great addition to our team. He will bring veteran leadership to the team as well as another great left-hand shot to the line-up," said Silcott. "I talked to Duane today and he's excited to show that he's got a lot more to do in this league. He will round out our power play nicely and his presence and demeanor will be an asset to our club." The Bandits will open the season this Saturday, January 4 against the Albany Attack. Face off is set for 7:00 PM. Season tickets for the Bandits are on sale now at the HSBC Arena. Please call (716) 855-4444 ext. 82 to get your seats today.
