(Toronto, Ontario) – Thursday January 2, 2003 – On the eve of the first West Coast road trip to the relocated Denver Colorado, the Toronto Rock have traded their long time goal-scoring veteran, Dan Stroup. After a long negotiation process, Dan Stroup was traded to the Vancouver Ravens for a second round pick in 2003 and a first round pick in 2004.

"We really needed to get the deal done for two reasons, the team and Dan's loyalty to our organization over the last four years. He has led the team both on the floor and in the locker rooms" said Les Bartley of the Rock.

Stroup has spent the last four seasons with the Rock playing 67 games (second highest in franchise history) and accumulating 224 points (tied for second in franchise history). Stroup has requested the trade since the end of last season. The commute from British Columbia to Ontario for five months took a huge toll on the Stroup family and Dan knew that it was time to move on.

Tonight the team travels to Denver Colorado for their first ever game against the relocated Washington Power franchise. The Colorado Mammoth will be led by NLL MVP Gary Gait but the Rock are on a roll winning there last game 13-9 in Albany and currently sit at 1-0 in the Northern Division.
