Baltimore Players to Watch:
The Blast travel up to Canada for the last time in the regular season to take on the Mississauga Metrostars. Midfielder Jonatas Melo continues to lead the Blast in points (23) this season, which ranks fifth in the Eastern Division. Forward Vini Dantas leads the team in goals (15) and points per game (1.8), both of which rank third in the Eastern Division. Defender Jereme Raley leads the team in blocked shots with thirteen, and Goalkeeper William Vanzela continues to impress in his seventh season with the Blast. Vanzela has recorded a 4.31 goals against average and a .730 save percentage, which rank thirds and fifth in the MASL respectively.
Last time out versus the Metrostars, the Blast collected a 6-3 win at Mississauga to keep their perfect record against the Metrostars. Forward Vini Dantas capped off his third hat-trick of the season with a sensational volley that flew past the Metrostars goalkeeper. Defender Sam Guernsey continued to trouble the Metrostars with a two assist performance to add to his game-winning goal from the first trip to Canada. Forward Jamie Thomas recorded a goal and an assist in the win for the Blast. The Blast are currently 3-4 on the road this season while holding a 10-6 record overall.
The Blast will be without Lucas Roque and Daniel Peruzzi as they recover from their knee injuries. Midfielder Mohamed N'diaye is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Defender Adriano Dos Santos will miss the next two games due to suspension. The Blast are coached by Head Coach Danny Kelly and Assistant Coach David Bascome.
The Competition - Mississauga Metrostars
Forward Molham Babouli leads the Metrostars in goals and points this season with fifteen and twenty-four respectively. Forward Matthew Rios ranks third in the Eastern Division in assists with eleven so far this season. Former MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario has performed very well in his first MASL season. De Rosario leads the team in points per game with 1.7, despite only playing nine of the team's sixteen games. Defender Josip Keran anchors the Metrostars defense and leads the team in blocks with eighteen so far this season.
In the 6-3 loss against the Blast, Matthew Rios led all Metrostars scorers with one goal and one assist. Jarred Phillips, Joshua Paredes, and Darren Chambers all tallied one point on the game. Goalkeeper Adrian Becic made ten saves in the game, as the defense was able to limit the Blast to only nineteen shots in the game. The Metrostars boast a 3-6 home record at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre and a 3-13 record overall.
The Mississauga Metrostars have made a midseason coaching change as Rick Titus has been named the Head Coach for the Metrostars for the remainder of the season. Titus has appointed John Williams as the Assistant Coach for the Metrostars.
