
San Diego Sockers Match Notes vs Turlock

The playoff-bound Sockers (14-1) begin a three-game homestand on Friday, March 1 against the Turlock Express at Ron Newman Field At Pechanga Arena San Diego. The game will feature Landon Donovan playing in his second career MASL game. He had an assist in his debut on February 15 against Tacoma before a Sockers MASL-era record crowd of 8,492. San Diego can clinch the Pacific Division regular season title tonight with a win.
The Express (2-14) are winless in three attempts versus the Sockers. In those contests, San Diego has outscored Turlock by a combined 32-6 margin. The Express bolstered their offense by recently acquiring F Omar Tapia (13-9=22) from El Paso. He joins Jorge Carmona (11-4=15) and Carlos Manzo (9-4=13) up front. On the backside, Turlock has used four different goalkeepers in an effort to contain the team's goal against (7.94) and differential (-69).
San Diego, who has won 12 consecutive matches, will play three games in 14 days beginning tonight. The Sockers will be without the services of Brain Farber (leg) and Felipe Gonzalez (ankle) due to injury, but will see the return of Kraig Chiles to the lineup after missing the last two games.
