Ballers top Panthers in overtime

December 18, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Twin City Ballers News Release

Southwestern, MI. The ABA Twin City Ballers needed overtime to defeat their cross state rival Detroit Panthers, 125-119. The Ballers were led by a balanced attack. Benton Harbor native Cory Childs led the Ballers with 24 points. Fellow hometown product Curtis McFall talled 21 and former Utah Jazz Robert Whaley added 17 points and 7 rebounds. "It really felt good winning one. Our guys played hard and really deserve the win," quoted head coach Jackson.

The Ballers were down 4 points with just 40 seconds left in regulation when a front court steal by Curtis McFall resulted in a Ballers 3-D where McFall made a lay-up and was fouled giving the Ballers a chance to tie the game. After making the on free throw to tie the score at 115, both teams headed into overtime. The Ballers outscored the Panthers 10-4 in the overtime period to secure the victory. "That was a wild one," said Coach Jackson.

The Ballers will be back in action next Saturday, Dec 23 against the Rollers at the Farnum Gym in Benton Harbor. Tip off time is 705pm. Tickets can be purchased on line or at the box office. For more information, visit www.twincityballers.com or www.abalive.com.
