Kings complete weekend road sweep

Peoria, IL. The resurgent Peoria Kings completed a road sweep over two highly ranked opponents this weekend. The Kings crushed the 23rd ranked Anderson Champions 140-114 on Friday night and defeated the 6th ranked Quad City Riverhawks for the second time in a week 120-115 on Sunday.

Coach Sergio McClain's team began the season 0-8, losing a number of close, hard-fought games. they have since won four of their last five games - all on the road. Four new additions to the team have keyed the stunning turn-around.

Bobby Anderson scored a team record 42 points on Friday night against Anderson. In addition, the 6-5 swingman added 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocked shots and 3 steals. Todd Peterson added 32 points, connecting on 7 of 13 three point shots and also hauling down 16 rebounds. Another newcomer Jake Sottos chipped in 21 points. Veteran Willie Coleman added 16.

Anderson followed up with another 33 points on Sunday against Quad Cities, while Peterson and Coleman scored 17 apiece. Still another new face, Phillip Gilbert contributed 16 points and veteran point guard Ivan Watson had 14 points and 8 assists.

Anderson has scored 106 points in his last three games.
