Oakland Ballers News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the first time in 2025 the Oakland Ballers held their opponents scoreless, beating the Rocky Mountain Vibes 6-0 on Thursday night.
The incredible run the team has been on continued to an eighth consecutive win on the road and eleventh win in their last twelve games.
Dylan Matsuoka carved up the Vibes in his best performance of the year. The righty tied a season-high with seven strikeouts and allowed just five singles and no walks in six innings of work. The bullpen combination of Caleb Franzen, Carson Lambert, and Connor Sullivan allowed just one hit and struck out four to complete the shutout.
It was a pitchers' duel for most of the game with Rocky Mountain starter Nick Powers only allowing a run on a Lou Helmig RBI single through five innings.
Then the Ballers came through with a big hit in the sixth. With runners on second and third, Daniel Harris IV singled up the middle to bring both men in, extending the lead to 3-0. It was a hit that extended Harris' hit streak to 21 games.
Oakland added insurance runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth to bring the game to 6-0, where it would stay through the final out.
Despite the win on Thursday, Oakland again did not gain any ground in the playoff race as both Missoula and Yuba-Sutter picked up wins too. With nine games remaining, the magic number for Oakland to clinch a playoff spot is eight. Which really isn't saying much.
Oakland will attempt to go for nine wins in a row tomorrow on the 249th birthday of the USA. Make sure you tune in to the action tomorrow for game four of the series at 5:30 PM PDT on 860 AM The Answer and the Ballers YouTube channel.
