
"Balk- Off" Win for the Captains

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - Lake County scores the go-ahead run on a balk, and added four more runs in the eighth inning to win 7-2. After the balk by Daniel Cooper (3-1) it came unglued for Fort Wayne. Copper allowed seven hits, five runs, all earned and took the loss. The game was tied at 2-2 entering the seventh inning.
Lake County (27-29) scored first. In the bottom of the second inning, Jerrud Sabourin doubled to right field and then scampered home on the two out base hit by Leonardo Castillo. The run batted in was the twenty-first of the season for Castillo. In the sixth inning, Fort Wayne (27-30) tied the ballgame. Tyler Stubblefield singled to start the inning and then stole second base Yeison Asencio then singled Stubblefield home and the score was tied at 1-1.
The TinCaps took the lead in the seventh inning, Duanel Jones hit a one out double to left field. Jones came around to score on Kyle Gaedele's single to center field. The TinCaps held a 2-1 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. In the bottom half of the inning, Francisco Lindor reached first base on a wild pitch after he was struck out. The dropped third strike allowed the inning to continue, and Lindor stole second and third base Jordan Smith then was hit by a pitch and Alex Lavisky hit a single to left field that scored Lindor from third and the game was tied up again at 2-2.
RHP Ruben Mejia (1-1) got the nod for Fort Wayne. Mejia did not earn the decision after pitching five innings, allowing four hits, one earned run and walking four and also fanning four Captains hitters. The Captains scored six earned runs off of the TinCaps relief pitching. Five of the six were scored in the seventh inning, the other run was given up by Dennis O'Grady. O'Grady went 1.2 innings and also struck out two.
LHP Elvis Araujo (2-4) took the ball for the Captains and did not factor into the decision. Araujo went 6.0 IP allowing four hits one earned run, he walked two and struck out five. Grant Sides (1-0) earned the win the first of his professional career. Sides went three full innings he allowed four hits, and surrendered one earned run while striking out three.
The home stand concludes on Monday at 7 PM with a Buck Night, presented by PNC, featuring $1 Five Star Brand Hot Dogs, chips, French fries, popcorn, soda and beer. Also, fans receive a $1 discount on their tickets or $2 off their tickets if they use a PNC Bank debit or credit card.
The first Hot Air Balloon Prize Drop will take place after the game on Monday night. Randomly selected fans will have the opportunity to go on the field following the game to win great prizes dropped from a Hot Air Balloon that is tethered over center field. The Captains will send RHP Joe Colon (5-5, 2.66) to the mound to start the game. The TinCaps will counter with Cody Hebner (5-2, 4.06) Game time is at 7:00PM
