
Balanced Attack Pushes D-Fenders Past Knicks

ONTARIO - Jamaal Franklin recorded a triple-double as the Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Westchester Knicks 121-118 tonight in Ontario, CA.
Los Angeles (11-25) was led by Jabari Brown, who tallied 26 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Franklin finished with 22 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds off the bench, while Vander Blue added 22 points, six, assists and three steals. Roscoe Smith (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Eloy Vargas (12 points, 11 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles for the D-Fenders.
Doron Lamb paced the Knicks (9-26) with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Darnell Jackson (26 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists), Trey Gilder (21 points, 10 rebounds) and Ben Strong (10 points, 10 rebounds) all tallied double-doubles for Westchester.
It was a close contest throughout, with the D-Fenders leading 33-27 at the end of the first quarter. Blue was hot early, recording 11 points in the quarter. Brown turned it on the second, finishing the quarter with 13 points, while Jackson had nine for Westchester. The Knicks would outscore the D-Fenders 33-32 in the quarter, but would trail 65-60 at the half.
The third quarter was tight, with Los Angeles outscoring Westchester 32-29. The D-Fenders shot 54.2% in the third quarter and led 97-89 heading into the fourth quarter. Franklin stole the show in the fourth quarter, tallying 13 points, including two free throws that gave the D-Fenders the lead for good. Los Angeles would go on to win 121-118.
Los Angeles shot .473, compared to .455 for Westchester. The D-Fenders forced 15 turnovers (14 steals), while only turning it over eight times.
The D-Fenders head to Bakersfield, CA on Friday to face the Jam at 7:00pm PT.
