Bakersfield Jam News Release
BAKERSFIELD - With a chance to win the game, Juan Pattillo missed a contested three pointer, which resulted in a 94-92 Jam loss against the Skyforce. The Bakersfield Jam drop to 24-18 on the season while the Sioux Falls Skyforce improve to 14-30.
Bakersfield started slow to begin the game, which resulted in an awful first quarter as they shot 27.8% (5-18) from the field and committed 10 turnovers. Even with a bad start by the Jam, they only found themselves down by six to begin the second quarter (17-23). Heading into the fourth period, the Jam faced a ten point deficit (77-67) but came out firing and went on a 21-6 run to begin the final period. With momentum on Bakersfield's side, they were able to erase their deficit and build an 89-83 lead with 5:36 left in the game. However, Sioux Falls would not go down easy as momentum swung back their way resulting in a 92-89 lead with 1:02 left to play. As time was winding down, Jeremy Wise found an open Adrian Thomas, in which he nailed a clutch three-pointer to tie the game at 92 with only 25.5 seconds left to play. On the next possession, Keith Benson was fouled and made both of his free throws. With only 2.4 seconds left in the game, Bakersfield inbounded the ball to Pattillo and unfortunately missed a well contested three-pointer.
Juan Pattillo led the Jam in scoring with 18 points off the bench, while also grabbing seven rebounds and blocking four shots. Jeremy Wise had 14 points and 5 assists on the night while Brian Butch added 13 points and five rebounds. Renaldo Major scored 10 points and Trey Johnson contributed 13 points off the bench for the Jam.
Trey Gilder led the Skyforce with a game-high 31 points and nine rebounds. Keith Benson and Anthony Mason each had a double-double on the night, as Benson had 17 points and 11 rebounds while Mason recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Bakersfield will conclude their two-game set with the Sioux Falls Skyforce tomorrow Saturday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m. PT at the Sioux Falls Arena.
