EL SEGUNDO, January 4, 2012 - The Bakersfield Jam (8-6) came up short against the Los Angeles D-Fenders (11-6) tonight, losing by a score of 104-94 in Los Angeles. The game included 11 lead changes and 11 ties.
With the game tied at 81, Malcolm Thomas scored to an easy lay-up with 7:49 remaining in the game to give the D-Fenders a lead they would not relinquish. Despite a 10 point fourth quarter from Jeremy Wise, Los Angeles went on to outscore Bakersfield 23-13 to finish the period and held on to defeat the Jam.
Wise finished the game with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Jeremy Hazell contributed 14 points off the bench and Osiris Eldridge had 13. Juan Pattillo added 12 points and 8 rebounds and Toronto Raptors assignee Solomon Alabi recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds in his first game with the Jam.
Los Angeles starting front court led the D-Fenders to victory with Brandon Costner scoring 24 points, Elijah Millsap 21 and Zach Andrews 16. Thomas had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
The Jam return home for a set of back-to-back games against the Idaho Stampede on Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. PT.
