BAKERSFIELD, CALIF. - The Bakersfield Jam (1-1) overcame a 17-point first half deficit to earn their first win of the season, downing the Grand Rapids Drive (0-1) 112-103 on Saturday night.
Bakersfield started the game poorly, shooting just 32 percent from the field and falling behind by as many as 17 points in the first quarter (32-15). However, the Jam put together a better all-around performance in the second quarter as they dominated on both ends of the floor and erased their double-digit deficit. A T.J. Warren reverse lay-up with 13.8 seconds left in the first half put Bakersfield ahead 53-52 and the Jam never looked back from there. Bakersfield led by as many as 24 points in the second half.
The Jam overall shot better from field (51.9%- 42.9%) and for the second straight game converted on at least 10 three-pointers, going 10-of-22 (45.5%) tonight.
Warren had a game-high 32 points to go along with six rebounds and three steals while Elijah Millsap recorded his second straight double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Two other Jam players also posted double-doubles as Tyler Ennis recorded 19 points and 10 assists and Earl Barron added 15 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.
The Drive were paced by Josh Bostic (26 points, 6 rebounds) and L.D. Williams (15 points). Lorenzo Brown tallied 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Jam will next face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. PT in Bakersfield.
