Bakersfield Acquires Rights to Josh Owens in Trade with Westchester

BAKERSFIELD, CALIF., January 20, 2015 - The Bakersfield Jam have acquired the player rights to Josh Owens from the Westchester Knicks in exchange for guard Robert Vaden, the team announced today.

The 6-8, 240-pound Owens is currently playing for Dolomiti Energia Trento in Italy, averaging 14.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in 28.5 minutes per contest. He played one year with the Idaho Stampede (2012-13 season), where in 42 games, he posted averages of 5.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per game.

The 26-year old has been a member of NBA Summer League teams with the Sacramento Kings (2014), New Orleans Pelicans (2013), Orlando Magic (2012) and Charlotte Bobcats (2012). He also participated in NBA Training Camp with the Charlotte Bobcats in 2012.

Owens, originally from Kennesaw, Georgia, played at Stanford from 2007-2012, redshirting his third year. Named to the Second Team All-PAC-12 in his final year, he averaged 8.7 points and 4.6 rebounds in 121 games (95 starts).
