
Baez Leads Wings to Victory

Edinburg, Texas - Welinson Baez brought home the go-ahead run to give the Rio Grande Valley White Wings (38-29) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Rio Grande Valley White Wings hung on to beat the McAllen Thunder (25-43) 6-2 on Saturday.
Leivi Ventura singled to start the sixth. He then went from first to second on a passed ball. Finally, Baez came to the plate with the score tied at one in the sixth inning, and singled, bringing home Ventura.
The Rio Grande Valley White Wings were led by Baez's hitting. Baez went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the sixth and eighth innings.
It was a good day at the plate for the Rio Grande Valley White Wings Ventura. Ventura went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the sixth and eighth innings.
Celson Polanco (8-4) racked up seven strikeouts in the Rio Grande Valley White Wings win. Polanco allowed two earned runs on nine hits and three walks over eight innings.
Frank James (5-6) took the loss for the McAllen Thunder, lasting just seven innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
Lyndon Poole and Gio Rosa drove in runs for the Thunder, while Nelson Teilon had two hits to pace them on offense.
The Thunder and White Wings will continue their eight game series on Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch at 6:05 p.m.
