Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
The Jr. Blues opened the 2004-05 NAHL season on September 17 and 18 with a pair of home games against the Texas Tornado. Although the results were not what Coach Pollos wanted he did see many positives signs for the team going forward.
With several veteran players out of the line-up the first two games provided many Jr. Blues players their first NAHL game experience. One of note was Ben Plokar, a 6-foot-3, 210 pound '87 defenseman from Wisconsin.
"Ben played very well, very physically and got under the skin of the Tornado forwards," said coach Pollos. In addition David Rosen, an '86 defenseman from Minnesota played well, accruing significant minutes in Saturday's game.
"Obviously we were not happy with the results of the games, but we were very pleased with the performance of some of our younger guys. We had eight or nine players playing in their first Jr. A game. We have identified several things we need to work on and will address those things in practice this week," coach Pollos said.
The Jr. Blues returned to the ice during the past week to prepare for their next opponent, the Santa Fe Roadrunners.
Next Home Game: Saturday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m. vs. the Wichita Falls Wildcats. It is also Springfield College of Illinois night and any SCI student can get into the game that night for just $3 by showing their valid SCI ID.
