The Team Toledo IceDiggers swept their weekend series versus the Cleveland Barons this past weekend in dramatic fashion. In both games, Toledo came from behind in the third period to win by scores of 5-3 and 5-4.

Veteran Paul Scalici notched two goals and an assist in the third period to help Toledo overcome a 3-2 deficit on Friday night in Toledo. Scalici set up Steve Murphy for his first goal of the season. Other Toledo goal scorers were Eric Giosa and Ross Enmark. Rookie goaltender Derek Szesny stopped 23 shots in his first NAHL win.

Toledo used two power play goals plus an even strength goal in the third period to once again jump by the Barons in Strongsville, Ohio. Kaleigh Schrock and Jake Hovick scored on the power play while newcomer Dan Armijo scored his first of the season five minutes into the third period. Second-year player, Jim Kozlowski notched two goals in the second period to get Toledo on the scoreboard. Goalie Justin Marriott stopped 20 of 22 shots in two periods of relief. Toledo's penalty kill went eight for eight on the weekend.

After traveling to Ann Arbor, Michigan, Tuesday to face the US National Team Development Program's Under-17 squad, the IceDiggers turn around to host Team USA on Friday at the Toledo Ice House. Friday's home game time is 7:30 p.m. Fans are invited to "Skate with the Diggers" after Friday's game for free. Skate rental is available.
