Alpena Coach Lands In Jail

March 26, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Alpena IceDiggers News Release

At ten am Eastern this morning, Alpena IceDiggers coach Kenny Miller will be escorted to the Alpena County Jail.

And it will have more to do with charity than it will for crime.

In a clever and thoughtful stunt, Miller and the local Muscular Dystrophy Association office are teaming up to raise money to help fight the dreaded disease. Miller will go to jail, and folks will be encouraged to help him 'make bail.' All proceeds will go to the MDA.

"They approached me and I thought it was a great idea," says Miller, named the 2007 NAHL GM of the year. "My goal is to earn $1,600, but if I can get to $1,000, I'd be more than happy with that."

No one's worried too much for Miller's incarceration, especially Miller, who joked: "I told them they could keep me in jail as long as they want, but I do have practice at two this afternoon."
