Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Southaven, Miss. - A back and forth game ended with a win for the home team as the Mississippi RiverKings knocked off the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-2 in front of 3,443 at the Landers Center in Southaven.

Kyle Lundale led the way with a goal and an assist and David Wilson rebounded from his last start to pick up his third win in his last four starts.

The RiverKings got the scoring started at the 18:21 mark of the first period as Chev Wilson buried a Jeff Topilko pass over the top of Jesse Kallechey to put the 'Kings up by one.

Early in the third period, Emery Olauson tied the game up as a bouncing puck found its way past David Wilson. Berkley Scott and Mark Van Vliet picked up the assists.

Just 19 seconds later, Kyle Lundale gave the RiverKings the lead again on a blast from the high slot over the blocker of Jesse Kallechey to make the score 2-1. Lundale landed on the scoresheet three minutes later as Darrell Stoddard tipped in his shot to give the RiverKings an insurance marker midway through the final frame.

And the 'Kings would need that insurance. Fifty seconds later, Eric Satim hammered away at David Wilson and knocked in the loose puck past the RiverKings' netminder to cut the lead to one. With Kallechey on the bench, the Ice Bears could not muster a strong attack as David Wilson and the 'Kings defense was up to the task and the RiverKings ended their two-game slide.

David Wilson improved to 10-5-2 on the season as he stopped 28 of 30 shots against en route to a third star of the game award. Jesse Kallechey fell to 6-7-2 as he turned aside 28 of 31 shots against.

The RiverKings return home to the Landers Center on Friday, February 10 to take on the Louisiana IceGators at 7:05. It's Friday Night Teen Night where teenagers get a red-level ticket, a popcorn and soda, all for just $10. Be sure to stop by the Fillin Station Grille before the game to enjoy great food and drink specials while hanging out with select RiverKings players from 4-6P.M.
