
Back at Home: Detroit City FC Welcomes New Mexico United to Keyworth Stadium

DETROIT, Michigan - For the first time since July 6, DCFC is home to host New Mexico United at Keyworth Stadium at 7:30pm on Saturday July 23. The match will be streamed live on TV20 and ESPN+.
Last Saturday, City continued their four-match unbeaten streak with a 0-0 draw against Monterey Bay F.C. The game had 16 shots in total but only two on target, one for each team. The best chance for Le Rouge was when forward Antoine Hoppenot crossed the ball to the front of the net where forward Pato Botello Faz cleanly headed the ball directly into the hands of goalkeeper Antony Siaha. Defender Rhys Williams saved a sure goal for Monterey on his own goal line early in the first half, after the ball passed by goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher.
Detroit City now has an 9-7-4 record, which currently has them sitting in fifth place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference, just nine points off of first place Louisville City. The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are just one spot ahead of City in fourth place, but both teams are tied with 34 points.
Forward Antoine Hoppenot will be wanting to get on the scoresheet this weekend, as his last goal and assist came on May 21 against Atlanta United 2. He has not been on the scoresheet for seven games straight. He sits in second place on the team with five goals, right behind Botello Faz who has six. Antoine also sits in second place on the team with four assists, behind defender Deklan Wynne. Hoppenot has created the most chances on the team with 44, which also has him in fourth place in the league and 11 of them are big chances, which ties him for second in the league. Hoppenot has 17 successful crosses this season, which ties him for second in the league with teammates Wynne and Williams.
Goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher has been anchoring the backline for City this season, making 53 saves which places him third in the league. He has seven clean sheets this season, good for fifth place in the league and has given up just 18 goals. He has a save percentage of 74.6% which places him in fifth place in all of the USL Championship.
New Mexico United arrives this Saturday in Detroit on a five-match undefeated streak. They currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 9-7-3 record, having played 19 games for a total of 34 points.
Midfielder Justin Portillo is tied for first place in the league with 110 crosses this season while also having six goals, good for a tie for 24th place in the league. He is also near the top of the leaderboard in fifth place with 43 chances created. Portillo has played in all 19 of New Mexico's games this season for a total of 1,605 minutes. He was named to the Team of the Week, as well as named Player of the Week, of week 12.
Midfielder Will Seymore has played in 18 of New Mexico's games this season, with 1,558 minutes played. He leads the team with 63 clearances and 11 blocks. His passing accuracy is 81.1% and he has taken 10 shots, with two on target.
Detroit City FC will enjoy a week off following this Saturday's match against New Mexico United FC, the next time Le Rouge will see action is on Saturday, August 6 when they travel south to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies, kickoff is set for 7:30PM.
