Cardinale Stadium; Seaside, California

Saturday, July 23, 2022; 7:00 p.m. PT

Records: Monterey Bay F.C. (5-11-2, 17 points); Red Bulls II (2-14-3, 9 points)

Connections: Union midfielder James Murphy has a special connection with one member of New York Red Bulls II, his 22-year-old younger brother, John Murphy. This weekend's meeting between the Crisp and Kelp and Red Bulls II is setting up to be the first USL Championship match between the two brothers from Scotch Plains, New Jersey.

Opponent's Previous Match: New York's previous match was the clubs second victory of the season thus far, and it came at home against Indy Eleven. Despite a scoreless first half between the sides, Red Bulls II forward Jeremy Rafanello jolted the hosts into the lead eight minutes into the second half. New York's defense then held strong for the remainder of the match to earn the full three points.

Notes: This weekend's match will likely be the first and only meeting between Monterey Bay F.C. and New York Red Bulls II before the latter potentially joins MLS Next Pro next season. Monterey Bay F.C. is undefeated against Eastern Conference opponents this season with a win on the road over Louisville City FC and a draw at home against Detroit City FC. The Union are 2-4-2 at home this season, while Red Bulls II is 1-8-0 this season on the road.
