Back and Forth Match Goes to Diablos

El Paso, TX - The El Paso Diablos (31-51) scored one run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to overcome Laredo Lemurs (44-38) six-run fourth inning and win, 9-7.

The Lemurs led 7-6 after their scoring outburst in the fourth and fifth innings, but El Paso C Juan Apodaca tied the game in the sixth with an RBI single to left field. In the seventh, Diablos' 3B Miguel Chacoa drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly, and Apodaca added some cushion with an RBI double in the eighth. Apodaca batted 2-for-3 with two RBI.

El Paso right-hander Jake Meiers (2-1) picked up the win after throwing a scoreless seventh inning. Closer Marshall Schuler earned his ninth save by holding the two-run lead in the ninth.

For the Lemurs, C Brian Peterson had a terrific night, batting 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. RF Harrison Kain also had success at the plate, batting 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.

The loss drops the Lemurs into second place a game back behind the Grand Prairie AirHogs.
