
Babbitt Assigned to Stampede

BOISE, Idaho, December 8, 2010 - Portland Trail Blazers forward Luke Babbitt was assigned to the Idaho Stampede, Portland's NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignment marks the 15th time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Babbitt, a rookie out of Nevada-Reno.
Babbitt (6-9, 225), has appeared in eight regular season games for the Trail Blazers, who acquired him on a draft-night deal with Minnesota. Selected by the Timberwolves in the first round (16th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft, Babbitt averaged 14.2 points and 2.8 rebounds with Portland in five NBA Summer League games.
An early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft, Babbitt averaged 19.4 points and 8.1 rebounds in 68 games over two seasons at Nevada-Reno. As a sophomore, Babbitt averaged 21.9 points and 8.9 rebounds, was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned AP All-America Honorable Mention honors.
Babbitt joins the Stampede in anticipation of the team's home game against the Dakota Wizards tonight.
