Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators dropped their second straight game with a 2-1 loss to the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center Sunday evening. Dustin Gazley scored the lone B-Sens goal.

The Phantoms struck first, getting on the board at 12:34 of the second period of play. Matt Mangene beat B-Sens' netminder Marc Cheverie low to the ice on a power play with help from Jason Akeson.

Adirondack doubled that lead just 2:38 into the third period as Jon Sim tapped one in with assists from Garrett Roe and Akeson. The B-Sens answered just shy of two minutes later as Gazley scored his second goal of the season at the 4:33 mark. Chris Wideman and Hugh Jessiman would combine for the assists on the play.

Despite outshooting the Phantoms 13 to 1 in the third period and 30 to 19 overall the B-Sens failed to generate any additional offense, ending February on a sour note.

Cheverie made his fourth start in goal for the B-Sens stopping 17 of 19 shots. Cal Heeter tended goal for the Phantoms turning aside 29 of 30 shots faced to help his team end a three-game losing skid.

The B-Sens return to action next weekend as they kick off a three game road trip on Friday, March 1 when they visit the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM) beginning 15 minutes before game time as Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens, hosts the Countdown to Faceoff.
