Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Mike Carp and Caleb Stewart homered and Dillon Gee allowed a run over six innings for the Binghamton Mets, who defeated the Bowie Baysox 2-1 at Prince George's Stadium Sunday. Binghamton, which took two of three in the series, has won four of five.

The B-Mets (67-62) didn't trail after Stewart's leadoff homer in the second off Brad Bergesen. However, Bowie (75-54) rallied to tie on Carlos Rojas's sacrifice fly off Gee (1-0) in the fifth. The righthander allowed three hits in his second Double-A start, striking out seven.

Carp got to Bergesen (15-4) in the sixth, when he hit a two-out, solo homer to left-center.

Binghamton relievers Elvys Quezada and Tim Lavigne followed Gee with three scoreless innings. Lavigne got the final three outs for his eighth save in 12 chances.

After an off-day Monday, Tuesday, the Binghamton Mets start a six-game homestand with the first of three against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Jose Sanchez (12-6, 4.00) will start for Binghamton against lefty Brad Mills (2-1, 0.44) of New Hampshire.
