ERIE, PA- Heading into Sunday's matchup the Defenders had seen some lack luster offense but with a solid outing from Joey Martinez, Connecticut took the final game 6-3 from Erie.

Before Martinez could take the hill, the offense got started with a solo shot from Antoan Richardson in the top of the first for an early Defenders lead, 1-0.

The Defenders added a pair in the third after Klink leadoff with a double than Sosa singled. Eddy Martinez-Esteve delivered an RBI groundout to plate Klink than Sosa scored on a wild pitch to give CT a 3-0 advantage. Two more funs followed in the fifth with a two RBI double by Sosa to score Witter and Klink. The Defenders had a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Erie finally struck the scoreboard late in the bottom of the seventh as they took advantage of a leadoff walk to Ramirez then a double by Frazier. Santo De Leon lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Ramirez for the Sea Wolves first run and Cotto followed with an RBI double to get the score to 5-2 Connecticut.

Each team scored solo runs in the ninth to get the final to 6-3 in favor of the Defenders.

Martinez left after six and two thirds of just four hit baseball, giving up two runs while picking up six strikeouts and walking two in route to his ninth win. Joey dazzled as kept the Sea Wolves offense bewildered by mixing up speeds all day.
