Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
The Binghamton Mets came back from a three-run deficit, but the Portland Sea Dogs got to the B-Mets bullpen for three runs in the eighth, picking up a 6-3 win over Binghamton at NYSEG Stadium Tuesday. The loss is Binghamton's second straight to Portland.
Portland (23-18) scored the game's first three runs on Chad Spann's leadoff homer in the second and RBI doubled by Jeremy West and Zach Borowiak in the fifth.
However, the B-Mets (20-25) rallied to tie, getting two back in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth. Corey Ragsdale began the fifth reaching on an error before Jonathan Slack walked and Yunir Garcia singled, loading the bases. Bobby Malek then hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Ragsdale, and Kevin Rios brought in Slack with a single to right, pulling Binghamton within 3-2. Andy Wilson then led off the B-Mets' half of the sixth with a double before moving to third on a Zac Clements groundout and scoring on Slack's fielder's choice, making it a 3-3 game.
The first four Sea Dogs hitters reached against B-Mets reliever Eddie Camacho in the eighth, with David Bacani's double driving in the go-ahead run before Tyler Minges and Matt Van Der Bosch reached Camacho (1-1) for RBI singles.
Portland's Jonathan Searles (2-1) tossed two scoreless innings for the win while Mike Bumatay worked around a ninth-inning walk to notch his first save.
Wednesday, the B-Mets play the third game of their four-game series with Portland. Tim McNab (1-2, 5.30) starts for Binghamton against Chris Smith (3-2, 2.01) of Portland. Game time is 6:00 from NYSEG Stadium with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the broadcast at 5:45 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
