LAST GAME: Deibison Romero's two-run homer in the eighth inning broke a tie game and helped lead the New Britain Rock Cats past the Binghamton Mets by a 6-4 score yesterday at New Britain Stadium. The B-Mets trailed 4-1 after three, but scored three unanswered runs to tie the game, capped by a solo home run from Matt den Dekker in the seventh inning. Jenrry Mejia started for the B-Mets and took a no-decision, allowing four runs on five hits over five innings. Gonzalez Germen, took the loss, surrendering two runs over three innings. New Britain starter B.J. Hermsen scattered 10 hits over seven innings, while Caleb Thielbar picked up the win in relief.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Darin Gorski (2-2, 4.28) takes the mound for the ninth time this year to make his eighth start. The lefty pitched in relief as a piggy-back starter against the Portland Sea Dogs on May 19. He allowed three runs on three hits and struck out six over 4.1 innings in the no-decision. In two starts this season against the Fisher Cats, Gorski has gone 0-1 with a 14.09 ERA. He has not thrown more than four innings versus the club that has hit him at a .405 clip.

RHP Joel Carreno (0-1, 6.14) makes his third start of the season for the Fisher Cats. The righty began the year with the Toronto Blue Jays, losing his first start to the Cleveland Indians on April 8. He was sent to the Las Vegas 51s (AAA) and made four starts. He went 2-2 with a 6.20 ERA in the Pacific Coast League before returning to the Majors in early May. The 40-man roster member made four relief appearances with the Blue Jays before getting optioned to New Hampshire on May 15. Signed by the Blue Jays as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in October 2004, Carreno enters his second season with the Fisher Cats.

SERIES SUCCESS SNAPPED: Yesterday's loss secured Binghamton's first series loss in four series. Both of their last two series losses have come against the New Britain Rock Cats. Binghamton had won three consecutive series before dropping three of four in Connecticut.

EASTERN DIVISION STRETCH CONTINUES: The B-Mets are currently in a stretch of seven consecutive series against Eastern Division foes. The B-Mets have gone 8-8 to start the 23-game stretch.

HOME AT LAST: The B-Mets return home for a four-game series against the Fisher Cats after spending a week on the road. The B-Mets play 14 of their final 21 games in May on the road. They have only enjoyed three home games in the last two weeks.

TEARING IT UP IN MAY: Eric Campbell leads the B-Mets with a .364 over 17 games in the month of May. Matt den Dekker is hitting .333 in 21 games in the month.

MINOR STREAK SNAPPED: Jefry Marte had his seven-game hitting snapped with an 0-for-4 performance yesterday. Marte had hit .385 (10-for-26) during the streak. Marte's longest hitting streak was a 10-gamer in April.

BOOSTING IN NEW BRITAIN: B-Mets outfielder Raul Reyes raised his batting average by 83 percentage points over four games against the Rock Cats. Reyes hit .556 (10-for-18) during the series with a double, two home runs, four runs scored and six RBI. He enjoyed three multi-hit games.

AGAINST THE FISHER CATS: The B-Mets have gone 5-5 against the Fisher Cats this season, including a 1-2 mark at NYSEG Stadium. The team's matchup for 20 games in 2012. Binghamton has hit .281 versus New Hampshire, with Matt den Dekker leading the pack owning a .405 (17-for-42) average. The Binghamton pitching staff has compiled a 5.48 ERA and allowed an opponents batting average of .297.
