LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets used an eight run seventh inning to top the Akron RubberDucks, 11-3, in the series finale at Canal Park on Thursday. The B-Mets were shutout through the first four frames, but starter Greg Peavey kept the RubberDucks at bay, giving up just two runs in six frames. Binghamton put up a season-high five doubles in the win. Kyle Johnson, Xorge Carrillo and Ryland Sandoval eachtallied three hits.
BINGHAMTON STARTER, GAME 1: RHP Tyler Pill makes his 12th start of the season and first against Erie. The Covina, California native dropped his first five appearances of the year, but is 3-0 since May 5. Pill didn't factor in the decision his last time out against New Britain on Sunday, June 8. The righty allowed two runs on five hits in five innings in a 7-3 Binghamton win.. The Cal St.-Fullerton product was taken by the Mets in the fourth round of the 2011 draft.
ERIE STARTER, GAME 1: RHP Kyle Ryan takes the bump for his 13th start of the season and first against Binghamton. After beginning the season 2-6, the Auburndale, Florida native is 3-0 since May 17. That includes a win in his last outing. Ryan tossed a complete-game shutout in his team's 5-0 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Saturday, June 7. The southpaw allowed just six hits and didn't walk a batter in the victory. Ryan was drafted by Detroit out of Auburndale High School in the 12th round of the 2010 draft.
BINGHAMTON STARTER, GAME 2: RHP Hansel Robles makes his 12th start of the season and first against Erie. The righty is coming off of back-to-back losses. In his last outing, Robles allowed three runs in six innings and struck out six in a 10-2 loss to the Akron RubberDucks, on Monday, June 9. The Bonao, Dominican Republic native was signed by the Mets as a non-drafted free agent on August 21, 2008.
ERIE STARTER, GAME 2: RHP Nick Avila makes his 12th appearance of the season for Erie, but only his third start. The Hollywood, Florida native has gone a combined seven innings in his first two starts and allowed just two runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out four. In four relief frames against the B-Mets this season, Avila's allowed six runs and walked three. The Nova Southeastern University product was drafted by Detroit in the 37th round of the 2011 draft.
MOTHER NATURE 3, BINGHAMTON/ERIE 0: Friday's rainout marked the third time in their first seven appearances that these two squads were postponed this season . Overall, it's the eighth time the B-Mets have had a game rescheduled this season.
IT TAKES TWO: The B-Mets smacked a season-high five doubles in Thursday's win over Akron. The team has a two-bagger in 12 of it's last 13 games, including seven straight. It brings Binghamton's total up the 131 on the season, good for third in the Eastern League.
TAKING THEIR PILL: Since dropping the first five games that Tyler Pill made an appearance this season, the B-Mets are undefeated in the last six. Through those first five, Binghamton was shutout three times, but the team has scored a combined 29 runs in his last three.
THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY: The B-Mets have had an inning of six or more runs in three of their last four games. That includes an eight-run performance in the seventh inning on Thursday that blew the game open. Binghamton batted around in each frame, sending a combined 32 batters to the plate and scoring 21 runs.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets wrap up their weekend series with Erie on Sunday. LHP Angel Cuan takes the hill for Binghamton opposite RHP Wilsen Palacios.
