
Milner leads Fightins to victory over Curve

Hoby Milner (5-3) pitched seven strong innings as he led the Fightin Phils (32-33) to victory by a score of 5-2 over the Altoona Curve (25-40). He struck out six batters while only issuing one walk off four hits. He allowed two runs early then the Fightins offense took over as they belted 13 hits. Aaron Altherr extended his hitting streak to a team-best 11 games in 2014 as he singled in the 9th inning.
Andy Vasquez put the Curve on the board first as he hit a solo home run with one out off Hoby Milner in the bottom of the 1st inning to give Altoona a 1-0 lead. Jarek Cunningham led off the bottom of the 3rd inning with a triple off Milner and scored on a RBI single from Alen Hansen to give the Curve a 2-0 lead.
Reading scored their first run in the top of the 4th inning as Logan Moore hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded off Curve starter Joan Montero to score Jake Fox. Altoona's lead would be cut in half, 2-1. Carlos Alonso tied the game at 2-2 off reliever Pat Ludwig in the top of the 5th inning with a RBI double to score Albert Cartwright.
Logan Moore broke up the 2-2 tie in the top of the 6th inning as he hit a RBI double off Ludwig to score Peter Lavin to give the Fightins a 3-2 lead. A wild pitch moved Moore over to third base and Hoby Milner hit a RBI single two at-bats later to give the Fightins a 4-2 lead.
Reading added an insurance run in the top of the 9th inning off reliever Quinton Miller as Jake Fox hit a RBI single to score Carlos Alonso.
Albert Cartwright extended his hitting streak to 7 games while Carlos Alonso extended his to 5 games.
The Fightins and Altoona Curve wrap up their series on Father's Day at Peoples Natural Gas Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
