LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets pounded out 13 hits in a 9-4 win over the Bowie Baysox, on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets blew the game open with a four-run fourth inning. The team sent ten batters to the plate in the frame. Brandon Nimmo with 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a three-RBI triple. T.J. Rivera put up a 3-for-5 performance and extended his season-high hitting streak to nine games. Dustin Lawley went 2-for-5 with a double and solo home run. He has four hits in the last two days. The team moves within five games of Portland for first place in the Eastern Division.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Gabriel Ynoa takes the mound for the sixth time this season and the first time against Bowie. The La Vega, Dominican Republic native didn't factor into the decision in his last outing. He tossed five innings and allowed four runs on eight hits on Saturday, July 26 at Trenton. The B-Mets won the game 10-7. Ynoa has allowed two runs or less in three of his five starts. That includes a complete-game, seven-inning shutout in game two of a doubleheader on July 9 against Portland. He has only four walks in 28.2 innings. The 21-year-old was signed as a non-drafted free agent on November 19, 2009.

BOWIE STARTER: LHP Jake Pettit makes his 22nd appearance on the season and his 18th start. The southpaw has come out of the bullpen in each of his last three outings. That includes going 3.2 innings and allowing three runs on eight hits on Saturday, July 26 against Altoona. The Baysox lost the game 11-0. Pettit has made one other appearance against Binghamton in 2014. He was roughed up for six runs on six hits in 1.1 innings on June 20 in Bowie. He did strike out five batters in that 12-4 B-Met victory. He has gone at least two innings in his last three relief appearances. The Orting, Washington native was taken by Baltimore in the 42nd round of the 2010 draft out of Western Oregon University.

DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME: The B-Mets say good-bye to a 16-13 July and hello to August. Entering the final month of play, the team is second in the Eastern Division, five games back of Portland for first place. Binghamton has a 10.5 game cushion over New Britain for the final playoff spot. At 65-36, they are just three games off the pace they set last year when the team won the Eastern Division and set a franchise record with 86 wins.

WE'RE GOING STREAKING: T.J. Rivera and Brandon Nimmo are each riding season-high hitting streaks. Nimmo has had a base knock in his last seven games, while Rivera has a hit in his last nine. The pair is a combined 24-for-64 (.375) during their respective streaks.

BACK ON TRACK: After going a combined 3-for-27 with runners in scoring position in their home stand-opening series against New Hampshire, the B-Mets were 6-for-12 on Thursday. The team's nine runs were two more than they had in the previous three games combined. The team leads the league in runs scored with 575.

SETTING THE TONE: Thursday was the 28th straight game that Binghamton starter has gone at least five innings. That stretches back to July 3rd. In 21 of those outings, the unit allowed three runs or less. Binghamton starters have an 3.99 ERA on the season.

INTO THE WEST: With Thursday's win, the B-Mets are 31-17 against Western Division teams in 2014 and 16-8 in the Southern Tier. That includes a 3-1 mark against Bowie. Binghamton has a winning record against every Western Division foe with series against Richmond, Harrisburg, Erie, and Akron still to come.
