B-Mets blank New Hampshire on three hits

Miguel Perez fired seven shutout innings and Brett Harper drove in two runs, helping the Binghamton Mets to a 3-0 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Merchantsauto.com Stadium Monday. Binghamton's won two in a row.

Binghamton (9-3) did all their scoring in the fourth. Carlos Gomez led off the inning being hit by a pitch from Kurt Isenberg (0-1) and moved to third on Andy Wilson's one-out double. Harper drove in both with a two-run single to get the B-Mets on the board. Jorge Padilla then singled and Bobby Malek walked to load the bases for Jay Caligiuri, who reached on a fielder's choice that scored Harper for the game's final run.

Meanwhile, New Hampshire (4-7) managed just three hits - all singles - off Perez (1-0), Ivan Maldonado and Henry Owens. Perez gave up two of the hits, walking one and striking out three. Owens pitched the ninth for his fourth save in as many opportunities.

Tuesday, the B-Mets continue their three-game series at New Hampshire. Lefthander William Collazo (2-0, 0.00) will get the ball for Binghamton against Ismael Ramirez (1-1, 1.50) of New Hampshire. Game time is 6:35 from Merchantsauto.com Stadium with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the broadcast at 6:20 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
