Rockford Aviators News Release
EVANSVILLE- The Aviators closed out their series against the Otters in style Thursday, sweeping a doubleheader by scores of 5-1 and 5-2 to take the series victory. The team benefitted from strong starts from Tony Rizzotti and Roberto Padilla to earn wins 43 and 44 on the season.
The Aviators sent Rizzotti to the hill in Game 1, and the Arlington native was phenomenal, throwing all 7 innings and racking up a season-high 10 Ks on the way to his 7th win.
The Otters committed 3 errors in the contest and Dusty Robinson, Brian Bistagne and Michael Hur all had RBI.
Roberto Padilla took the ball in Game 2 and put up 4 straight scoreless frames to start. The Aviators gave him an early lead on a base hit by Cameron Garfield, who finished with 4 hits and 2 RBI.
Padilla would end up going 5 innings before being relieved by Matt Frahm. Frahm threw a perfect 6th inning and turned things over to Patrick Dolan, who notched his 7th save of the season by firing a scoreless 7th.
Bistagne and Hur joined Garfield with multiple hits in the game. Hur also scored two of the team's five runs.
The Aviators now head back to Aviators Stadium to welcome the Southern Illinois Miners to town for a three-game set. Game 1 tomorrow evening will begin at 7:05. David Diaz will start for the Aviators.
Tomorrow will be Military Appreciation Night at the stadium. All active and former service members and their families will receive free tickets to the game.
