Aviators Pound Beach Bums to Win Series

Traverse City, MICHIGAN - The Rockford Aviators wrapped up their trip to Traverse City by crushing the Beach Bums 8-1 Sunday at Wuerfel Park. Michael Hur pounded out 4 of the Rockford's 20 hits in support of Kyle Hassna, who earned his 6th win of the year.
The Beach Bums got out to an early lead, tallying a run on Hassna in the second before the Aviator offense came to life in the 4th. They scored twice in that inning, then once in each of the next 2 before scoring 4 times in the 8th to put it away. The big 8th inning was cued by Hur and newcomer Collin Shaw, who each racked up 2-RBI doubles in the inning.
It was a hit parade for the Rockford offense. Every man in the order had at least 1 hit, and Hur, Shaw, Cody Lenahan, Danny Stientstra, Dusty Robinson, and Joshua Davis all had multiple knocks.
Hassna pitched 6 innings and scattered 9 hits, escaping multiple jams to limit the Bums to just 1 run and earn his 6th win of the year. Luis DeJesus, who gave up 3 runs over 5 innings, took the loss.
Rockford returns to action 5 pm Tuesday at Aviators Stadium with the resumption of a game that was suspended due to bad weather at Gateway in late June. The contest will pick up in the 11th inning and will immediately be followed by Game 1 of the originally scheduled series against the Grizzlies.
