Author of Mel Allen Biography on Pelicans Radio Show

The Pensacola Pelicans announced today that writer Stephen Borelli, author of biography of legendary broadcaster Mel Allen titled "How About That!: The Life of Mel Allen," will appear on the Pelicans Radio Show via telephone on Saturday, May 20 from Noon until 1:00 p.m. broadcasting live from New York Nick's on AM 1620.

Borelli's book was published in the spring of 2005. Borelli started his journalism career at the Pensacola News Journal before spending time in Memphis and North Carolina. He is currently the Baseball Editor for USA Today Sports Weekly and has written for The Washington Post and TENNIS Magazine.

Mel Allen was known as the "Voice of the New York Yankees" and the host of popular television show "This Week in Baseball." Allen's signature calls "How about that!" and "Going...going...gone!" made him an American icon.

Pelican's radio broadcasters Paul Chestnutt and Erik Lewitke will be hosting the one-hour show featuring Pelicans field manager Kash Beauchamp and play-by-play announcer Jay Burnham.

The Pelicans continue their seven game road trip tonight at Shreveport at 7:05 p.m. Fans will be able to listen to tonight's game beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the Buffalo Rock Pepsi Pre Game Show on AM 1620 and at www.pensacolapelicans.com.

The Pelicans return home for their second home stand of the 2006 season on Tuesday, May 23 vs. the El Paso Diablos at 6:35 p.m. It is the first "Tuesday Madness" of the season. Fans can purchase a ticket to the game and "All you can eat pizza and all you can drink Pepsi" for $12 (pizza and beer $15). The special is from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Fans can purchase individual home game tickets for the Pelicans in person at the Pelicans office located at 913 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Suite 8 in Gulf Breeze or at www.pensacolapelicans.com Pelicans season tickets are still available for the biggest nights of the 2006 season for as low as $50.
