Pensacola jumped on Shreveport early, getting four runs in the first inning, and registered its first victory of the year, 6-1 over the Sports. RF Juan Rocha and 1B Tim Dorn powered the Pelicans with three hits and an RBI apiece. Rocha hit the only homerun of the game, his first of the season. P Russell Begnaud pitched 7 1/3 innings, striking out seven and allowing an unearned run to get the win. Shreveport RF Austin Easley went 1-for-3 and drove in the Sports' lone run in the losing effort.

RF Kevin Henry and SS Robert Mendoza powered the Explorers past the Saints 6-1 to improve to 5-3 on the season. Henry hit his first homerun of the year and Mendoza went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for Sioux City. P Billy Keppinger recorded his first victory of the season in impressive fashion, striking out eight in six innings of work. C Jeremy Frost provided the offense for the Saints, driving in their only run of the game with a solo homerun in the fifth inning.

Three Lincoln pitchers combined on a six hit shutout of Fort Worth. Starting P Lindsay Gulin went seven innings to move to 2-0 on the season. Relievers Scott Vandermeer and Jerrod Fuell allowed only two hits over the final two innings to complete the shutout. 1B Pichi Balet went 3-for-5 with two RBI and DH Brett Cooley continued his powerful start, hitting his third homerun of the young season. DH Adam Miller had a strong night at the plate for the Cats, getting two hits in the losing cause.
