Austin Strand and Cole Kehler Join Monarchs

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and General Manager, Doug Christiansen, announced today that Austin Strand and Cole Kehler have been reassigned to the Monarchs by the Ontario Reign (AHL).

The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings.

Strand, 21, joins the Monarchs having played 69 games for the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) during the 2017-18 season. Strand posted 64 points on 25 goals and 39 assists.

The 6-foot-4, 216-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, was fourth in scoring on the Thunderbirds during the 2017-18 season and led all defensemen with 64 points. Strand signed an entry level contract with the Kings on November 28, 2017.

Kehler, 20, comes to Manchester having played in 53 games for the Portland Winterhawks (WHL), during the 2017-18 season.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound native of Altona, Manitoba, posted a 2.77 goals against average and a .909 save percentage last season in the WHL, and played in 12 playoff games for the Winterhawks.

Kehler, Strand and the Monarchs open their home schedule on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. to face the Newfoundland Growlers. For tickets to Opening Night, Season Memberships and group tickets, please contact the Monarchs front office at 603-626-7825.
